Dragons are the headline act of fantasy - the set-piece encounters every campaign is secretly building towards. In Dungeons & Dragons tradition, there are the evil chromatics (red, blue, green, black, and white) ordered by Tiamat, and the good-aligned metallics (gold, silver, bronze, copper, and brass) who follow Bahamut. Each has its own breath weapon, terrain preference, hoard hoarding habits, and personality - a mature red dragon is a tyrant of flame and mountains, a silver dragon might be a mentor in human guise, and a young black dragon is the cunning ambush predator of a drowning swamp.
