This is a gorgeous model and really enjoyable to paint. The details on the face are amazing and the antlers look fantastic and dramatic when they’re painted up.

The base is a separate piece that has a depression in it where the tree stump goes. I’ve done a snow base so that’s REALLY helpful because it’s easy to paint it without getting the white paint all over the elk’s hooves or the tree stump.

The model arrived super quickly, too. The only tiny issue I had was that the base was still slightly tacky when it arrived (I assume it’s harder to cure a wide, flat surface than one that stands upright) but that was easily fixed by leaving it on a windowsill for a bit to finish curing and I only mention it in case someone else has the same issue and doesn’t know how to fix it.

I've been listening to a horror anthology podcast recently called Old Gods of Appalachia, and this mini is absolutely amazing and dead on for one of the characters. The horns are a little wonky, but this makes for an absolutely compelling Fae or Eldritch entity.
